Im going to get welder gloves down the road, I don't think it'll be hard to train my birds to accept welder gloves. The gloves will be for my bf.

Trust is a big thing with birds and you have to be patient along with long hours of working with the bird plus proper grooming techniques. I have never used gloves in all my years and never would!!! Macaws also need proper room for exercising.

The current thinking on gloves (from trainers like Melinda Johnson and Barbara Heidenreich) that I follow is not to use gloves and not to cause a bite under any circumstances if it can be avoided without endangering the bird. The thinking is that teaching the bird that biting does not make the hand go away conditions helplessness.
